Selwyn Philip Haas and Raymond Colin Haas were founder members of the Open Public Foundation Liepājas ebreju mantojums (Liepāja Jewish Heritage Foundation) in 2004.
Their paternal ancestors came from Pavilosta and Liepāja. In 1998 Selwyn and Raymond visited Latvia to research their father, Ivor’s (Idel) youth in Liepāja. Since then both brothers have become vital participants in the activities of the Liepaja Jewish community. They have and do support numerous projects and research activities commemorating and preserving Liepaja’s Jewish heritage. They also support the existing Jewish community and its activities and the development of the new generation of the Liepaja Jewish community
